They actually had the new starting blocks out here in Indy before the competition started so swimmers could test them out, but they haven&#039;t used them for actual races. The problem, as Jeff said, has been making them available to national federations around the world. Coaches tell me FINA also is ditching plans to use underwater video at worlds for DQs because the system isn&#039;t ready yet.</description>

		<description>What is the status of the new starting platform for swimmers, the one with the adjustable block for the back foot, which, by adding the power of both front and back feet, is supposed to lower 50 meter sprint times by nearly one-tenth of a second?  I thought FINA voted last summer to approve the new starting block for use in 2009, with the major caveat that the manufacturer must first make enough to meet demand from most of the national swimming federations (not just the U.S. and Australian markets.)  Did FINA change its mind? Did the manufacturer go bust? Or,  will the new blocks be used at Worlds?</description>
