Today, Reach For The Wall turns one month old. We launched June 22, and since then, we’ve received lots of submissions on our wiki-style Team Pages. We’ve featured many of them on the left sidebar on our home page, under “Updates and Best Posts,” but on our one-month anniversary, we’d like to highlight some of the best submissions we’ve received thus far.

Takoma Park: “With the contagious beats and rhythms of the dearly departed Michael Jackson rocking the pool deck, the TPDC All Stars took inspiration from his music and unleashed a torrent of strong swims in their second meet of the season. In a dominant display at their home pool, the All Stars swamped their latest rival, the West Laurel Wahoos by the score of 352 – 220. While the dual meet season has not yet reached its half way point and its most worthy opponents still lay in wait, the 2009 version of TPDC is positioned to rule the roost in Prince-Mont’s Division A.”

Tallyho: “The enormous Fox skulk showed up at the Haunted Den with witches, Cousin It, and princesses. Angry that she lost the best-dressed-parent award, Mrs. Bacon showed up in her finest black sheath. However, this beautiful woman turned out to be Ensign Bacon. Our little devil, Leah Fox-Rabinovich, sang the National Anthem. The Foxes exhibited tremendous depth. They swept 26 events including 6 & under, 7-, 8- and 9-year old frees in both boys and girls events. More Foxes than ever earned best times. And some Foxes dropped 13, 14, and even 24 seconds (not a misprint).”

Westlake: “Over the course of about 30 hours this weekend, the Waves of Westlake swimmers made County history and achieved step two of three in their quest for a perfect 2009 season. On a great swimming Saturday, the Waves followed up last week’s clinching of the regular season B Division title by completing a perfect 5-0 season after with a 331-244 victory over the Montpelier Marlins.”

Tilden Woods included a video of its swimmers.

Sudley: “The Sudley Seahorses overwhelmed the Ridgewood Barracudas 3,283 to 1,981 to extend its winning streak to 66 consecutive meets dating back to 1999. The Seahorses were led by Sam Pomajevich who narrowly missed the 9-10 boys butterfly record of 15.89, swimming that event in 15.96. He also won the 9-10 boys breast and IM events.”

Bannockburn: “You could hear the cheering about a mile away. HUGE KUDOS to the Dolphins for their amazing swims in the Division E Relay Carnival. We set one team record, had five wins, and had six second places with five of these less than a second out of first. We came in third place overall, a heartbreaking 4 points out of first with almost 40 points over fourth place.”

Bridlewood: “The Bridlewood Bridlewaves are the proud sponsor of the Firecracker Relay. This is a fundraiser for Prince William Health Foundation. $100 donations from each team (23 teams) in the league is being bundled with a $1,200 donation from Bridlewood. The meet will be short only two heats of each relay event. The meet will start at 8am and will be over by 11:45 AM. YES we will be done before noon.”

Oxon Hill contributed photos from its meets.

Country Glen: “Despite the “virtual meet” tool predicting a 51 point loss, Country Glen secured a big win on Saturday with a 410-382 victory over Merrimack Park! The entire team rose to the challenge, but special mention must be given to Meredith Srour, who broke a 26 year old Team Record in the Girl’s 9-10 25 Breast with a time of 20.08.”

Forest Knolls: “Some highlights of the meet were multiple All Star times by FO swimmers! Olivia Amitay garnered three AS times – 19.40 in the 8 & U 25 SC M Butterfly – also a pool and team record, not to mention 2nd OVERALL in the county. Not bad for an “M” division swimmer! Congratulations, Olivia!) 24.50 in the 8 & U 25 SC M Breaststroke (3rd overall in MCSL), 22.32 in the 8 & U 25 SC M Backstroke (1st overall in MCSL). Not bad for an “M” division swimmer! Congratulations, Olivia! Also getting AS times – Andy Holmes, 29.06 15-18 50 SC M Butterfly and Katie Ross, 33.84 13-14 50 SC M Butterfly.”

Strathmore Bel Pre: “The Dolphins’ 319-256 loss to the TPDC All-Stars on Saturday was highlighted by excellent performances from both teams, but the most exciting race of the meet resulted in a new record for Dolphins senior Andrew McGehee. Andrew swam the 100 IM in a blistering 53.93, in a race that was breathtakingly close until the last few strokes. TPDC’s Joshua Tomlin also beat the previous league record and set a new TPDC team record of 54.29.”

Wellington included a slideshow on its home page.

As did Regency Estates.

Lakelands: “Lionfish All Star times were turned in by Maddie Durmowicz, Lindsey Goldstein, Maddy Zarchin, Brandon Goldstein, Jacob Linder and Alex Myers. The youngest of the Lionfish participated in the Westleigh mini meet on July 19 showing the awesome future for the team. Lakelands swimmers posted personal best records and had a great time as they dressed for the dog-pound themed mini meet.”

Temple Hills: “Despite the looming rain clouds that swept over Saturday’s swim meet and competing against a team that was a full division ahead of them, the Temple Hills Dolphins showed their resilience. The Prince Georges Council Aqua knights held a significant advantage in outnumbering the Dolphins, but won by the score of 291 to 259.”
