Amy, thanks again for reporting this story in greater detail than most of the other news outlets (including the swimming-related ones)!

The European Team roster probably won't be announced for a few more days, but I've heard that several of the powerhouse swimmers from Europe such as Steffen, Pellegrini & Biedermann will likely not participate in this meet due to conflicting schedules unfortunately. Though this actually might make the final results a little less lopsided, assuming that Phelps, Hoff & Kukors (& potentially Lochte) stand by their admirable principle of donning 2010 legal suits while most of the Europeans (except for Spofforth perhaps) will probably go with the faster Jaked, Arena, & LZR models (understandably enough due to the incentive of national pride, and of course not forgetting the considerable prize money just as in the Durban leg of this year's World Cup)

Not at all familiar with these "Duel in the Pool" events, and was wondering if you would happen to know if there will be th eusual preliminary qualifying heats for the finals, or will each country just select their swimmers for a designated number of spots in the finals?

Anyway, looking forward to seeing USA Swimming's future stars make a splash on the international stage, Amber McDermott and in particular Missy Franklin, in addition to the youngsters who have already broken out (Beisel, Pelton, Knutson, etc). Would have liked to have seen Rachel Bootsma and Felecia Lee get an invitation, but I guess there's only a limited number of places on the team!

btw should be rather interesting to see how Phelps, Kukors & co. will fare with their textile suits against the half & full poly competition (hopefully the average TV viewer won't be turned off watching swimming if Phelps doesn't end up winning all his races!), and I can't wait to see Soni go head to head with Hardy even if they are close friends/training partners and on the same team... :)
