Isn’t it sad how some people will do anything and say anything to take away from the success of a person! Technical suit or not Missy is AMAZING. And best of all she is a WONDERFUL person. What a role model. I feel son honored to know her. I can only hope my children end up being just 1/2 as good of a person she is. And to anyone who feels it is o.k. to take away from her success with your ignorant comments, you would feel so ashamed and embarrassed if you really knew her. Kuddos to her parents for raising such a loving young lady.

all the atheletes in those meets were in the same suits. it not like it gave her this huge advantage over everyone else… they’re the norm for high-profile, fast meets.

I checked the results at last years 2008 SC Jrs when she was in an LZR. She placed in the top 10 in 6 of 7 races with two third palce finish being her best. Eight months later in an Jaked01, she had six first place and an 9th place in the 200Free that could have been another first if she hadn’t messed up in the prelims. Granted, eight months of maturity and growing plus the Jaked01 put her on top with a lot of incredible times. My conclusion (no scientific data) is swimmers with her built benefitted more from the X-Glide / Jaked01 than others not having a similar body built. It appeared the swimmers did more “gliding” or like a flat rock skipping across the water. My bet is, she won’t equal those times at LC Jrs until her body fully matures. She’ll still be good and the future looks good.

JB: One of the most amazing Finals I ever saw was at the Colorado SC State Finals in March 08. Many of us who had no kids come back, returned just to watch Missy. We weren’t disappointed. She broke an old NAG record, her 3rd of the meet. They had to measure the pool 3 times! What made them so incredible was that the pool was at altitude, a mile high, and she wore a regular FS 2 – her usual competition suit. I believe the only time she wore a high tech suit (Jaked) was at Juniors 09 for some of her events. She wore a LZR at Trials and a few other times. Like many others, she will need to prove herself, again, with textile suits.

Wow.

If she is only 14 and wears a 13 shoe at “only 6 feet”, she’s going to end up being in the 6’3,6’4,6’5 range. If she keeps swimming and remains fit, she is going to dominate womens swimming with that type of stature.
