See the WMPSSDL Psych Sheet here. And the Virginia AA Dulles District Psych Sheet here.
With 16 of 24 inches of snow forecast for the metropolitan area for Friday and Saturday, schools and leagues throughout the area are preemptively altering weekend schedules for meets currently set to be held on the weekend.
Fairfax County administrators have already set a new schedule to assure the Northern Region swim and dive championships are held this weekend.
The Washington Metropolitan Prep School Swim and Dive League championships were scheduled for Saturday evening at George Mason, but with the snow the meet has been postponed indefinitely. No makeup plans have been announced.
In Loudoun County, athletic directors met this afternoon and with snow wiping out both the original Friday evening time slot and Saturday evening back-up time, the county is now hoping to hold the meet Tuesday evening.
If the meet is again postponed early next week, one possibility is to hold the district meet next Friday in place of the Virginia AA Region II meet. Qualifying times from the district meet would replace any regional meet times. No regional meet would be held before the Virginia AA state championship.
And the AAA Cardinal District swimming and diving championships, originally scheduled for last Saturday at the Chinn Center in Woodbridge, have been canceled. The top 8 individuals and top 4 relays advance to next weekend’s Northwest Region meet based on district seeding.

news of the day
The WMPSSDL swimming competition will not be held this weekend at GMU. It will be rescheduled, probably as timed finals sessions sometime next week.
I was very disappointed today when i opened the Washington Post Sports section. Expecting an article on a weekend preview or a districts wrap up, instead there was an article about a swim team lock in alcohol incident. thank you for ruining my day. So many accomplished athletes, smart students, dedicated workers in this amazing sport and instead you decide to report on an alcohol incident at a lock in of a swim team no one cares about? this disgusts me. You just gave the wrong idea of the swimming community to millions of people that read the newspaper everyday. You think football players don’t get drunk at parties all the time? Im sure they do, but we dont hear about it in a prominent newspaper. Who cares what the JEB stuart team is doing! you hurt all of us by publishing this article. disgrace.
It’s ok to report about Gilbert and guns, or Tiger and sex, but not the news about the poor decisions made by the Stuart swimmers, coaches and parents about teen drinking? perhaps reading about the loss of swimming privileges will make more parents think about the problems with this kind of behavior. Perhaps it will scare coaches enough to realize they can’t condone teen drinking. I say hats off to Paul for getting the story out to the public.
Agree with swim parent..Their have been stories about lacrosse players, basketball and football players engaging in the same behavior so why not swimmers? Kids, athletes all make stupid mistakes and know one group is immune.Kudos to Paul but I dont understand why its not on RTW
any update on what happened to the coaches? i know one of them was supposed to coach our summer team in the NVSL (div. 2 or 3) so its a pretty big deal
Have to disagree with Blue 70. I believe it is a good idea to show that when coaches, kids, or parents act irresponsibly, the county does something about it. Our coaches used this as an example. Our high school swimmers got the message loud and clear. Sure, many kids don’t need this message, but some do. Hmm, maybe Michael Phelps could learn a lesson from those kids?
