Good post.Too much negativity when coaches parents should be concerned with whether or not they will get to swim in high school next year. Swim parent, katy, hscoach and 3amom should get a life indeed and start worrying about if their kids will be on hs teams next year.

This thread just baffles me and I am amazed at some of the posts. At a time when schools are threatening to cut swimming from their budgets, you are argueing over what division is better AA or AAA? You are probably the same kind of parents that judge an athletes college choice based on swim rankings or if it's D1,D2,D3..Your competitive streak extends to your childrens high school athletic endeavours and that is unfortunate.
You know the funny thing is the swimmers dont do this, its the parents. Athletes realize their are good swimmers at every school and in every division and that high school swimming is something to be enjoyed for the few years they can participate. They dont think oh no, I'm in A or AA or AAA..they just think about their team.
Who has more, who is better, who is inferior....what a message being sent to the kids.
What is clear to me is WHO has too much time on their hands and needs to get a new hobby.

Well swim parent, in your zest to defend katy and 3Amom and the honor of AAA swiming,I guess you didnt take the time to read my post..the part that said ," And I think you are missing my point and that is it doesn't mater if you are A,AA AAA or AAAA, northern or southern VA…AAA does not have a monopoly on good swimmers and I just pointed it out"

Initially my post was meant to be tongue and check, just throwing some smack to get all you parents ,(especially 3Amom) of wood be AAA Olympians foaming at the mouth and again to show great swimmers can come from anywhere. I guess I didn't go back far enough in history though..I was thinking last 5 years because AA S&D is relatively young, especially in your neck of the woods..some of the high schools in my part of the state didnt even have swim teams until 10-15 years ago.
But within the past 5 years, AA-A programs have had some swimmers go on to do some impressive things and you can play "I'll show you mine" all you want but my numbers( top 10,top25,top100) dont lie . Walters in the only other Olympian to come out of Virginia in the last few years beside Ziegler.

So all you AA swimmers and parents out there, don't let a couple parents make you believe your program is inferior...believe me its not..

And yea, I am a high school coach and love my job and i do what I do because its my job. I am not a parent who makes themselves feel good or important by putting down kids in other divisions.

hscoach... your examples explain why you are a high school coach.... Tom dolan, Ed Moses, Markus Rogan, Kristina Han, all Olympians, all same AAA... Mei Christensen, Ashley danner, 2 swimmers in the top 100...... please don't come to this forum advocating that AA high school swimming has produced more or better swimmers than AAA, the numbers don't support you... you sound almost as crazy as 3Aswimmom

Well, first Kate Ziegler was not in AAA (I belive she went to a private catholic school)and she is a GREAT swimmer, no doubt..Dolan was in AAA but I think has his AARP card , or close to it ..

Only Olympian? What is that supposed to mean? Ever heard of Tom Dolan? Maybe Kate Ziegler doesn't count but she's from here.

The irony of this argument is that high school programs have zero relevance regarding elite swimmers' development besides learning fun cheers.
