Swim coach previously accused of sexual abuse suspended by Manassas club
Tuesday, April 20th, 2010A local swimming coach was suspended indefinitely by his club team in Manassas on Tuesday, a day after he was accused in a civil lawsuit filed in Missouri of sexually abusing a high school senior when he coached there in 2006-07. Occoquan Swimming’s board president Brad Hughes wrote in an e-mail to parents that Robert Mirande, who had been coaching the club’s elite high school swimmers since last summer, would not participate in any coaching activities “pending conclusion of ongoing investigations.”
PVS wins Eastern Zone SC Age Group Champs
Tuesday, April 13th, 2010Potomac Valley Swimming won the combined team title at the Eastern Zone Short Course Age Group Championship for the second time in as many years. Nine other LSC’s from Virginia to Maine participated in the event which was held in Webster, New York April 1-3.
All-Met swimmers announced
Wednesday, April 7th, 2010Seton senior Jameson Hill (top) owned the area’s top times in the 200 and 500 freestyle and is the boys’ swimmer of the year.
Oakton junior Kaitlin Pawlowicz, who shattered a national record in the 200 IM, is the girls’ swimmer of the year.
