Eastern Zones age group championship results

There many top performances by Potomac Valley swimmers at the LC Eastern Zone Age Group Championships in Rockville that finished on Saturday.

Although one of the youngest swimmers in the meet, 10-year old Isabella Rongione had one of the finest performances, winning six events.

Rongione took first in the 10 and under 100 free (1:06.12), 100 fly (1:12.81), 100 back (1:14.99), 200 free (2:19.01), 400 free (4:54.63) and 200 IM (2:41.93). She also swam on two winning relay teams, in the 200 free and 400 free.

Jacqueline Clabeaux won two other 10U events, in the 50 breast (38.09) and 100 breast (1:23.67).

Four 15-18 girls each won a pair of events: Elena Marsilii in the 800 free (9:20. 48) and 1500 free (4:37.81); Rachel Swarts in the 200 fly (2:26.07) and 400 IM (5:19.13); Carli Molano in the 200 IM (2:30.06) and 50 free (28.25); and Elizabeth Collins in the 100 breast (1:15.64) and 200 breast (2:46.77).

Will Lawler, a rising senior at Georgetown Prep, won three 15-18 events: the 100 free (54.37), 100 fly (59.51) and 200 IM (2:12.42) and helped Potomac Valley win three relays as the host club won the team championship.

    This article is completely biased toward fast LC swimmers – way to go RFTW!

    This meet is only for fast LC swimmers. Congrats to all who participated.

    @Phelphsfan – Do you not realize that Eastern LC Zones are, by definition, a LONG COURSE meet? Of course those who swam are fast LC swimmers – and year round swimmers – that’s how they qualified!
