Briar Woods girls soaring in Dulles District

After winning their first district title and placing fourth at the Virginia A-AA state meet last winter, the Briar Woods girls’ have picked up right are again out in front in the Dulles District.

Madison hoping to find its form against McLean

The reigning AAA Liberty District champion Madison Warhawks will pick up the pace as they take on league rivals McLean while Wootton finally gets its crack at Churchill in Montgomery County after last year’s dual meet was snowed out.

Robinson coaches fired after hazing incident

The Robinson Secondary School swimming coaching staff was fired last Thursday following a locker room incident at a Dec. 3 swim meet at Cub Run RECenter in Chantilly.

Elizabeth Pepper on a mission this winter

A disappointing showing at last winter’s Metros championships is fueling Walter Johnson senior Elizabeth Pepper this season. And in Virginia, St. Stephen’s/St. Agnes and Bishop Ireton split the annual Alexandria Tri-City meet on Tuesday.

Locals impress at Tom Dolan Invitational

Many of the area’s top swimmers competed in the Tom Dolan Invitational at George Mason University over the weekend, while Bethesda-Chevy Chase knocked off Wootton in Montgomery County and Heritage went 2-0 in Virginia’s AAA Cedar Run District.
