Swimmers across the area returned to the pool on Saturday for the first meets of the new summer season. Teams in the Montgomery County Swim League, Prince-Mont Swim League, Prince William Swim League, Colonial Swim League and Dominion Country Club League battled in opening-week contests.
In a new weekly feature, snapshots from a handful of those meets tell the story:

Tallyho's Phoebe Bacon, 8, captures the girls 8-and-under 25 back in Saturday's MCSL Division D meet against Hallowell. Bacon won all three of her individual events (25 back, 25 breast, 25 fly) in the Foxes's victory, posting league-best times in each.

A year after capturing the MCSL Division D crown, Darnestown kicked off its season in Division C with a 449-332 win at Cedarbrook. (Photo: Bin Liu)

Kings Landing moved up to two PMSL divisions this season and began the summer with a win against Indian Head. (Photo: Raeann Turpin)

Steven Goldberg, 16, won the boys 15-18 100 IM and 100 breast, but Seven Locks fell to Palisades in its MCSL Division H meet. (photo: Ginny Maycock)

In her first swim meet, Severn Crossing's Sydnee Washington, 7, won all three of her individual events. Her performance helped Severn Crossing beat Temple Hills in a PMSL Division E meet. (Photo: Kim Washington)
