Greetings RFTW readers!
As the new editor of Reachforthewall.com, I’d like to give everyone a quick introduction to who I am and what we want to accomplish here at Reach as the high school swim season approaches. My name is Bryan Flaherty. I grew up in Fairfax County and am returning to the Washington D.C. area after two years in Chicago for graduate school at the University of Chicago, where I studied the anthropology and culture of sports. I am a long-time swimmer and swim coach, with a deep love for all things swimming. I grew up swimming in the NVSL and PVS, before heading off to the University of Florida to play water polo in the Fall of 2005. I have nine years of experience coaching as an assistant and head coach in the NVSL, as well as club and masters swim teams in Florida and Chicago. While I have been away from the swimming world for a couple of years, I am eager to get back to doing what I love: working with swimmers, parents and coaches!
Here at Reachforthewall.com, I want to continue expanding coverage of local swimming, including high school, club, and summer league swimming in the greater DMV metro area. In order to accomplish this, I plan on expanding our group of reporters so that we can provide the top stories you want to hear about each week. Furthermore, we recognize the strength of the s
wimming community here in the D.C. area and we want to bring that strength to Reachforthewall.com through your amplified voice in our forums, comments, Facebook page, and our new Twitter feed – @reachforthewall.
Over the next year, we plan on increasing our coverage of area swimming to include high school diving, club meets, and anything and everything I can find related to swimming. Likewise, we will be adding weekly columns with information and tips for swimmers, parents and coaches alike.
We want to make Reachforthewall.com your go-to location for swimming stats and results, as well as team, league, and general swimming information. My goals may be ambitious, but with everyone’s help, I know we can make great strides towards making Reachforthwall.com the best swim site on the web. If you have any comments, suggestions, questions or ideas on what YOU would like to see on the website, I can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org – or leave a comment below, on Facebook, or tweet me! This is your chance to tell us what you'd like to read about!
Thank you all!
