49 swimmers, including open water, will comprise the 2012 U.S. swim team that will compete in July and August at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. 21 Olympians will return, the majority of which competing four years ago in Beijing, but some, like 31-year-old Anthony Ervin have come back after extended absences to make it onto another Olympic squad.

Of the 28 new Olympians, there will be four teenagers on the team, including Colorado sensational Missy Franklin, 17, in seven events and the youngest U.S. representative, Curl-Burke's Katie Ledecky, 15, in the women's 800 freestyle.

At 22 pool swimmers, this is the largest Olympic women's team the United States has sent over the past 32 years. Interestingly enough, at the same size roster, the men's team is historically on the small side. It's the same number sent in 2008, but smaller than the teams sent in the Olympics from 1980 to 2000, most likely due to the increase in multi-event swimmers like Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte who are taking eight individual event spots between them in 2012.

Ryan Lochte's coach, Gregg Troy, will head the men's coaching staff. He was an assistant four years ago under Eddie Reese who has reversed positions this year as one of the three men's assistants. Another former assistant, Teri McKeever was named the head women's coach. Complete rosters, with events, listed below.
