to a new record in the girls’ 15-18 100-meter freestyle at the 2012 MCSL All Star meet on Sunday. The record, held by Pamela Minthorn (Darnestown), had stood for nearly 24 years to the day, before McTaggart shaved .11 seconds off on Sunday for a new time of 58.02. It was the second longest standing individual record behind the girls’ 8 & under 25 backstroke record set in 1982.

At just 15-years-old, McTaggart has another three seasons to lower the mark in the freestyle event, as well as the 50 butterfly, which she set later in the meet with a time of 28.68, lowering the record set by Harvard’s Danielle Schulkin (Bannockburn) in 2010 by .04 seconds.
