Gonzaga enters this week's championship meets as one of the hottest teams in the area, coming off wins at the National Catholic and WMPSSDL championship meets. They will be tested this weekend at the Washington Metropolitan Interscholastic Swimming & Diving Championship. The Metros finals are Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center, where the best teams from Montgomery County, WMPSSDL, and DCIAA come together for one of the best collections of high school talent in on the East Coast.
Manor Woods 18-year-old Matt Thomas won both of his races at Sunday's MCSL Individual All-Star Meet, including a record-setting performance in the 100 free. Westlake's Anthony Nguyen, 9, headlined the PMSL All-Star Meet.
Swimmers from several area leagues (MCSL, PMSL, PWSL, CSL and DCCL) will hit the water this weekend with their first chance of the summer to showcase their improvement since last season. As the new season begins, many familiar faces will be back hoping to build on their past success.
