Consistently placing in the top heats, Osbourn Park boys’ and girls’ swim teams ran away with the AAA Northwest Region Swimming Championship for the second straight year.
Defending regional champions Osbourn Park ready to take on powerhouse Albemarle High School, along with Prince William County’s best swimmers, at the AAA Northwest Region Championship meet on Friday.
Battlefield high school remained on top, repeating at AAA Cedar Run District champions. Patriot boys was second, in just its first year, and showed itself to be a contender for years to come. Freedom girls were second.

Gonzaga wins National Catholics, as the dual meet season comes to a close for Montgomery County High Schools; Virginia district championships kicked off. Results posted for MCPS, Va. AAA Cardinal, Concorde, Liberty, National, & Patriot Districts, as well as National Catholics and Va. AA Dulles District. Also a quick look ahead to the second weekend of championship meets.
Battlefield’s seniors impress in girls’ win over Patriot; boys stumble despite dominant performances by starsSaturday, January 21st, 2012
In the Prince William County showdown, the Bobcat girls’ team (5-0) flexed their muscles against the young Patriot girls (4-1), winning 180-106, while the Battlefield boys (4-1) came up short, despite winning the majority of the night’s events, losing a close one to the Pioneers (5-0), 146-140.
Patriot High School meets Battlefield for the first time ever. Both teams enter the meet with 4-0 records, and the meet is expected to come down to relays.
Woodson, Yorktown, and Oakton are undefeated on both girls’ and boys’ sides in the Northern Region with one meet to go. Churchill, Wootton, Walter Johnson, and Whitman are battling it out in the MCPS’ top division, and are looking ahead to their first Maryland states appearances.
