Records were broken Saturday night at the 2012 AAA Patriot District Championship meet. Woodson boys’ and girls’ impressed as they won the district title.
RFTW’s look at this weekend’s Va. AAA Patriot District Championship Swim & Dive Meet, taking place January 26-28 at Lee District RECenter. Woodson is the run away favorite to repeat as boys’ champions, but if the past is any indication of the outcome for the girls, the meet will not be over until the final relay is over.
Woodson, Yorktown, and Oakton are undefeated on both girls’ and boys’ sides in the Northern Region with one meet to go. Churchill, Wootton, Walter Johnson, and Whitman are battling it out in the MCPS’ top division, and are looking ahead to their first Maryland states appearances.
West Springfield picked up its first loss of the season against a dominant Woodson team that is stacked from top to bottom. The Cavaliers should finish the season 7-0 next week against Lake Braddock before setting their sites on district, regional, and state titles.
Friday night will feature W.T. Woodson (5-0, 5-0) versus West Springfield (5-0, 5-0) in a matchup between undefeated teams.

Northern Region girls’ swimming prelims were run as timed finals, and though there is an outside chance a finals may be held next week it is more likely these are the final region results. Also, an update on boys’ swimming and girls’ diving. RESULTS ATTACHED!
Madison’s boys’ and girls’ teams took home titles in the Liberty District, W.T. Woodson’s boys’ and girls’ earned championships in the Patriot and the Oakton boys and Robinson girls won titles in the Concorde in meets around the area. FULL RESULTS INSIDE!!

Several Saturday meets went down to the wire in Montgomery County as the Whitman boys edged Walter Johnson by two points and Einstein squeaked past Clarksburg by four to win a key Division IV dual meet.
